Welcome to the Elder Academy website.
The Elderly Commission is pleased to join hands with the Labour and Welfare Bureau in implementing the Elder Academy Scheme. The Scheme supports schools and non-governmental organisations to work together in operating elder academies as a learning platform for elders, thereby enabling them to pursue a healthy and active retirement life through lifelong learning.
Elders’ participation in the courses and operation of elder academies are essential to the Scheme’s ongoing development. We hope that our elders and the public can learn more about the Elder Academy Scheme through this website. Particularly, we hope that our elders will be interested in the courses offered by EAs.
Although an ageing population is bringing challenges to our society, many elders are physically fit, leading an active and flourishing life. The Elder Academy Scheme not only promotes life-long learning and active ageing among elders, but also provides more opportunities for cross-generational interaction among youngsters and elders so as to enhance mutual communication and understanding and build a harmonious community.
